From the interview

  1. 01

How did you turn to jewellery design, and how did D’Evin come into being?

My journey in jewellery design began with D’Evin. Before it, I spent twenty-five years working in strategic planning and business optimisation at banks and international consultancies, building and leading teams of different sizes and developing new ventures. Despite that pace, I never lost touch with fashion, design or jewellery. After leaving corporate life, independent work gave me room to rediscover myself and to shape new ideas. My education, business experience, instinct for design and passion for jewellery came together, and D’Evin grew from that energy.

  2. 02

How would you describe your designs?

They are intellectual jewels with a masculine, genderless design language. I designed the collection primarily with men who love jewellery in mind. Throughout history, jewellery has represented strength and belonging and, for men especially, made status and title visible. D’Evin aims to break the barriers that have grown around men’s jewellery. To me, jewellery concerns emotion rather than gender. Whoever understands the feeling in a piece most deeply, woman or man, is the person to whom it belongs and with whom it finds its full meaning.

  3. 03

    What inspires you?

First, the cultural wealth of the land on which we live; then the influence of my own roots seen through that perspective. I feel a responsibility to make our cultural and social values visible, almost a debt to this extraordinary geography. I enjoy reinterpreting those feelings through a more contemporary line, an approach that also reflects my personal style.

  4. 04

Who do you see as D’Evin’s audience?

D’Evin speaks to people who are self-assured, strong yet modest, comfortable receiving attention, known for their elegance and intellectual curiosity, and more inclined to lead trends than follow them. They are charismatic people who make a clear statement through style.

  5. 05

Which materials do you work with?

The first collection brings diamonds and other precious and semi-precious stones together with gold. In design, workmanship and stone selection, the pieces range from fine jewellery to high jewellery. Later chapters of this collection and future collections will introduce other materials.
